The curriculum provides the academic
requirements for meeting assessment guidelines for the Child
Development Associate (CDA) credential. This is a competency-based
credential offered by the Council for Early Childhood Professional
Recognition that provides teachers with entry-level proficiency in
the early childhood profession. Arkansas Tech University does not
play a role in the actual assessment or awarding of the CDA
credential; however, the content of the coursework is based on the
competencies required for the CDA and the University is an eligible
institution for the CDA scholarship.
Arkansas Tech University partners
with Child Development, Inc., a major provider of Head Start
programs, to provide the practicum which is required for gaining the CDA credential.
