EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER (EOC)

The EOC is an essential part of a disaster response system from which overall command, control, and communications are coordinated in the event of an emergency. The EOC is utilized for exercises and actual incidents, and provides students with a valuable hands-on academic resource. Arkansas Tech University’s EOC is located in Dean Hall, Room 102. |

EOC FUNCTIONS
- In the event of an emergency or disaster that threatens the University, coordination of emergency response by campus leadership will be conducted from the EOC.
- University Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) is developed and maintained using EOC resources.
- Campus hazard analysis and vulnerability assessments are developed and maintained using EOC modeling and simulation infrastructure.
- Students are afforded access to emerging technologies and hands-on experience through EAM courses utilizing the EOC.
- Local, state, national, and world-wide incidents are monitored.
- Hurricane tracks and storm surge models based on real-time forecast data are used to predict storm intensity and to assess property damage probabilities.
- Tornado, chemical spill, and terrorism incident simulations are conducted
- Outreach to government and industry emergency management organizations is provided.
